The W-Line

The NS W-Line is a secondary mainline running from Landrum, SC to Columbia, SC. It is part of the Columbia District and serves as a major connector between inland South Carolina and the Charleston, SC port. Between Spartanburg and Columbia, traffic is almost exclusively made up of intermodal and autorack, but there are occasional unit trains and the usual local trains. West of Spartanburg are the pitiful remains of the former Southern Railway Saluda Grade, now only featuring a single local train.
